Our Signature Caribbean Collection celebrates coffees from the Dominican Republic and Haiti—two origins shaped by mountain landscapes, rich culture, and generations of coffee tradition. Each coffee is thoughtfully selected to express its own sense of place, from the gentle sweetness of Dominican coffee to the smooth, creamy character associated with Haitian Blue.

The Meaning Behind Montalava

The name Montalava is inspired by the natural forces that shape coffee.

“Mont” evokes the mountains and high-elevation landscapes where remarkable coffees are cultivated. “Lava” represents the earth, warmth, and transformative fire of the roasting process—the moment green coffee develops its aroma, flavor, and distinctive character.

Together, Montalava reflects a journey from mountain to cup: grounded in origin, transformed with care, and created for connection.

Cumbre Dorada and Miel Roja reflect two distinctive expressions of Dominican coffee, while Perla Negra introduces the smooth, low-acid character of Haitian coffee. Together, they form a collection inspired by the depth, warmth, and spirit of the Caribbean.

We created Montalava Co. to give these origins a meaningful place in the modern specialty-coffee experience—presented with intention, enjoyed slowly, and shared with appreciation.
